About

The Malton Herald and Sun is Malton’s oldest zombie newspaper, keeping the good zombies in Ridleybank and surrounding areas abreast of the latest news since 2005. While some may criticize the paper as being little more than a thinly veiled propaganda tool for the all-powerful Ridleybank Resistance Front, the Malton Herald and Sun actually is a carefully researched and hard hitting publication, bringing the latest technology, social conditions, zombie politics, and current events regarding the eradication and cleansing of the human menace to its loyal readers.
Survivor groups have long called for a boycott of the MH&S, claiming that the paper itself presents nothing more than a biased, partisan view of Malton life and that its articles contain little to no factual information. Others have claimed the newspaper’s policy of using human slaves fitted with shock collars to publish and distribute the paper is both morally corrupt and unethical. The MH&S dismisses such claims as “human headshot nonsense,” and advises protesters that they better get used to their new zombie overlords.
About The Ridleybank Resistance Front
The Ridleybank Resistance Front (RRF) stands as the greatest zombie group to have ever shambled, starting in the virtual streets of Malton in the browser-based MMO Urban Dead. For nearly two decades, this legendary horde dominated the suburb of Ridleybank, which they fiercely defended as their sacred “Homeland” against human survivors (derisively called “breathers”).
Founded by the visionary Petrosjko, the RRF quickly grew into an unstoppable force of the undead united by their commitment to keeping Ridleybank free from human influence. Their influence spread throughout Malton, making them infamous among survivors and revered among the zombie community.
Philosophy and Legacy
The core tenet of the RRF is simple yet powerful: Ridleybank was zombie homeland, and survivors were viewed as an invading force to be eliminated on sight. This territorial claim led to legendary sieges and battles that have become part of Urban Dead folklore, particularly at locations like the Blackmore Building.
Though Urban Dead concluded its 19-year run in March 2025, the legacy of the RRF lives on as perhaps the most organized, effective, and culturally rich zombie group in history. With the knowledge that Ridleybank will be forever free for zombies, the RRF family continues to play together maintaining their undead humor and distinctive culture, bringing unique terminology like “BARHAH” and “zambahz” to other worlds.

About Ridleybank
Ridleybank (also known as The Bank, The Bonk, The Homeland, or in zamgrh as Ragrabang) is a suburb of Malton, located in the city centre. Before the outbreak, the suburb was notable for the large population of medical students studying at Adalbert and Eugene General Hospitals, two of the seven hospitals in the area. These were built largely to treat the victims of Orange Lung Disease, Melted Toes Syndrome, and Ear-Rot caused by pollution from the local factories, which produced chemicals for NecroTech.
The zombie dominance of Ridleybank has been considered the original standard by which all others are compared against. It is also well known to many in the zombie community as “The Homeland”.
The detailed history of the suburb of Ridleybank can be found here.
General Information
Ridleybank has become one of the most infamous suburbs in Malton, largely due to the efforts of The Ridleybank Resistance Front. It forms the heart of Greater Ridleybank.
In September 2005, Petrosjko was inspired to rally a horde to Ridleybank, which quickly grew into one of the most effective the game has seen.
As one of the core tenets of the Ridleybank Resistance Front, Ridleybank is considered a great zombie homeland, where survivors are seen as an invading force to be eliminated on sight. As a result, the suburb often draws the attention of zombies seeking to protect the homeland, and survivors seeking to liberate it. Several memorable sieges have occurred over the years at the Blackmore Building, the suburb’s only Necrotech facility.
Also making a home in Ridleybank are the offices of the Malton Herald & Sun, the official newspaper of the RRF.
